Assaulted 10-year-old recovering steadily, says Anambra First Lady
The First Lady of Anambra State, Nonye T. Soludo, has expressed her joy regarding the ongoing recovery of a 10-year-old boy who was reportedly abused by his guardians. She views this progress as a reflection of the commitment shown by the medical team, as well as the immense love, support, and prayers from compassionate individuals.
The boy, named Chiziterem, gained attention on social media after a video surfaced depicting severe burns and injuries allegedly caused by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, within the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state. He is currently receiving medical care under the protection of the state.
During her second visit to the hospital, Soludo conveyed her relief upon receiving positive updates from the medical staff regarding the boy's stable condition.
While evaluating the victim's health during this follow-up visit, the First Lady expressed her contentment with his ongoing improvement and praised the medical team responsible for his care.
In a statement released on Wednesday, she encouraged the community to remain vigilant and vocal against child abuse and neglect in all forms, emphasizing that every child has the right to safety, protection, and the chance to flourish.
She stated, "I visited young Chiziterem again today to check on his recovery and provide encouragement to his family. I am thrilled to witness his significant progress and increased strength since my last visit.
"His recovery is a clear indication of the dedication of the medical team and the overwhelming love, support, and prayers from generous individuals.
"As I promised, I will continue to closely monitor his wellbeing to ensure he receives the necessary care and support until he is fully healed and reunited with his family.
