Soludo awards scholarship to Anambra UTME top scorer

The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has granted a full scholarship to Chiazo Umeaniba, a student at Maria Regina Model Comprehensive Secondary School in Nnewi, following her impressive score of 344 in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Soludo made this announcement during the first anniversary celebration of Solution Fun City in Awka on Sunday.

The governor revealed the scholarship after Umeaniba, who serves as the senior prefect of her school, showcased her talent as one of the dancers entertaining the guests at the event. He was later informed of her UTME score.

In announcing the scholarship, Soludo stated that it would support her education from the undergraduate level all the way to a PhD.

“Your education from undergraduate to PhD is on me. Yes, the bill is on me. I was also a senior prefect like you, I made the best result.

“You know why I’m touched: I was a senior prefect like her, I went into the university and made a first class honours and won all the departmental and faculty prizes.

“I am also wishing that she, as a senior prefect and making 344 in UTME, is going in there, I can see her coming out with first class honours, but the bill I will pay. Even after my tenure as a governor, I will continue to pay the bills.”

Soludo also mentioned that Solution Fun City, which was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in May 2025 and opened to the public on June 28, 2025, has evolved into a multi-generational recreational center aimed at serving residents from various social backgrounds.

He further stated that this facility is part of his administration's initiative to transform Anambra into a hub for tourism and investment, emphasizing that additional infrastructure projects are in progress.

The governor noted that the success of the project has drawn heightened investor interest in large-scale developments, such as residential estates and industrial cities, and he assured that his administration would persist in expanding the facility to maintain its attractiveness.

Additionally, Chiamaka Nnake, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Solution Fun City, remarked that the facility stands as a testament to the governor's vision and dedication to delivering developmental benefits.

She reported that the center experienced an average of 10,000 visitors daily from late December to mid-January, with attendees coming from both within and outside Anambra State.

An enthusiastic Umeaniba expressed gratitude to the governor for the scholarship, while the anniversary celebration included cultural performances and various recreational activities.
