Falcons flaunt ‘Adire’ ahead WAFCON opener

The defending champions, the Super Falcons, arrived in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday, showcasing their elegance in green-and-white Adire gowns complemented by matching headwraps as they prepared for their pursuit of an unprecedented 11th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

Off the pitch, the players seized the opportunity to create social media content that highlighted their traditional attire.

Esther Okoronkwo, Jennifer Echegini, and Michelle Alozie produced a playful video titled "Rich Aunty Vibes," while goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie entertained fans with a series of humorous skits and poses.

Defender Tosin Demehin and Folashade Ijamilusi were among other players who shared photos and videos celebrating the team's arrival in their vibrant outfits.

Nigeria's arrival in Rabat came after a 10-day training camp in Casablanca, where head coach Justine Madugu refined his squad in preparation for the tournament.

The Super Falcons concluded their preparations with a 2-1 victory over Tanzania in an international friendly on Thursday, which provided a timely boost of confidence ahead of the competition.

As the most successful team in the tournament's history, Nigeria will commence their Group C campaign against Malawi on Tuesday at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat. They will subsequently face Zambia on Saturday, August 1, at the same venue, before wrapping up the group stage against Egypt on Wednesday, August 5, at the Olympic Stadium.

In anticipation of the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation revealed a special 10-star Super Falcons jersey to honor the team's extraordinary achievements.

The stars encircle the national badge, with each star symbolizing one of Nigeria's 10 WAFCON titles, celebrating the nation's unparalleled dominance in African women's football.
