JAMB opens SIM, email update for candidates who lost access

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has implemented a revised policy permitting candidates who have legitimately lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to modify these details through a structured verification process.

JAMB disclosed this policy modification on Monday via its official X account, announcing that the service became operational on September 21, 2026.

The board specified that the service would be accessible exclusively at designated JAMB Computer-Based Test centres, as well as State Offices where appropriate.

The board indicated that this measure was designed to accommodate candidates experiencing genuine circumstances involving loss of access to their registered GSM numbers or email addresses.

According to the board, candidates wishing to utilize the service would be obligated to complete rigorous identity and biometric verification procedures

“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” JAMB said.

The board urged candidates to use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels when seeking to update their registered details.

“For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” it said.

JAMB said the announcement was part of its JCARE and JAMB Updates initiatives.

The board’s latest policy means candidates who meet the requirements can now seek to update either their registered GSM number, email address or both through the designated centres.

It, however, stressed that the service would be available only once and would be subject to identity and biometric checks.
