Police arrest 12 suspected cultists in Edo
The Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), recently arrested 12 suspected cultists in the Auchi area of the state.
The operation took place on May 7, 2026, around 6:00 pm at Amazing Grace Estate, Elele Community, Uzairue. According to the police spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, the suspects had reportedly mobilized from Okpella to launch an attack on perceived rivals before security operatives intervened based on credible intelligence.

Confessions: During preliminary investigations, seven of the suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Aye and Vikings confraternities.
Items Recovered: A grey Mercedes-Benz Jeep (Registration No: GWA 471 DS) was seized at the scene. The vehicle reportedly belongs to a suspect identified as Balogun Isreal, who remains at large.
Current Status
The Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, confirmed that the suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism unit for further investigation. He reiterated that the command will continue its crackdown on violent crime and cult-related activities across Edo State to ensure public safety.
