JUST IN: Trailer loses control, crashes into FMC fence in Abia

A heavy-duty trailer carrying iron rods collided with the perimeter fence of the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, during the early hours of Thursday.

The collision occurred when the trailer lost compression while ascending a hill on the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Expressway.

This incident took place near Finbarrs Road, adjacent to the Abia State High Court, resulting in significant traffic congestion along the busy expressway.

The driver of the trailer, who chose to remain anonymous, reported that the accident transpired around 2:00 a.m.

He clarified that the vehicle lost compression while climbing the hill, which caused it to roll backward uncontrollably and crash into the fence of the Federal Medical Centre.

The accident left the trailer blocking part of the federal highway, leading to severe traffic delays during the morning rush hour as drivers attempted to navigate the impacted area.

At the time of this report, there was no official confirmation of any injuries, while efforts were underway to remove the trailer and restore normal traffic flow.
